  I've been to Mac's Place several times and I'm always satisfied. The food is good and you'll get unique menu options, such as the Jalapeno Bacon Mac and Cheese, which is a favorite. The atmosphere is nice in this historic building, although it can get noisy at times especially when the evening bar crowd shows up.
  
  I love that they have some old-timey arcade games like Galaga and Ms. Pac-Man. Just their presence helped occupy my three-year-old son, as well as another toddler who happened in on the same night. The staff didn't seem to mind that the kids were playing on the machines without dumping any quarters into them, and in fact said it happens all the time. The parent of the other toddler mentioned that she loves coming to Mac's because her kid can stay entertained while they wait on their food.
  
  The only downside to this place is that the back patio, which has a beautiful view of the river, is only available to people over the age of 21. That means families can't take their kids to eat outside and enjoy the nice views, no matter what time of day it is -- early morning or evening. I wish they'd at least open it up to families in the earlier hours because it really is a gorgeous view.
  
  If you're in Silverton for any reason and need a bite to eat, you should definitely consider Mac's. I even occasionally make the 30-minute trip from Salem to eat here because I enjoy them so much.
